Living at Evangelhouse Christian Academy

Dorm life at Evangelhouse Christian Academy emphasizes community living with shared responsibilities such as laundry and meal preparation in order to manage the campus. Students learn practical life-management skills while contributing to their peer group.

Our dorm supervisors, like all Evangelhouse Christian Academy staff, have college degrees and ministry experience. These caring professionals provide 24-hour supervision and are always available for objective biblical guidance and counsel.

Students enjoy a rich variety of fun activities. Every weekend, privilege-earning students can participate in an outing that may include: a visit to a coffee shop, a movie theatre, a restaurant, or a shopping trip for personal items.

Students may also have the opportunity to enjoy a monthly group outing to an ice skating rink, a bowling alley, an art museum, or a Christian concert. Activities vary depending on the wishes of the group and availability. We also plan team-building events and community service projects on the weekends as well.

Evangelhouse Christian Academy is a Christian boarding school based upon biblical principles. An authentic relationship with Jesus Christ is nurtured and developed within the school’s setting and through local church involvement. An overriding emphasis on conservative Christian values permeates all segments of the program. The Christian emphasis seamlessly integrates with professional counseling and clinical aspects of the school.

While the school maintains a non-denominational approach, Evangelhouse has a special relationship with the First Assembly of God Church in Lafayette, Louisiana. Students attend Sunday morning worship and mid-week youth group meetings. Staff supervises their involvement, but students are welcomed by the people of the church. Since 1995, First Assembly and Evangelhouse have worked together to provide teens the opportunity for an authentic experience with God. The church provides a chance for students to explore and experience God in a renewed way, yet these teens are taught to honor their parents’ denominational background within that renewed relationship. Families from a variety of Catholic and Protestant Church backgrounds find this approach effective for reconnecting their daughter to God through Jesus Christ.

Individual, family, and group therapy interventions are structured within the Evangelhouse Lifeleaf™ system. This state-of-the-art system challenges students to work beyond symptom improvement. This unique integrative approach leads students to maturity, insight, and self-awareness. Students are trained in a variety of therapeutic coping skills based on Dialectical Behavior Therapy, and EMDR trauma counseling techniques are used when appropriate.

At Evangel house Christian Academy, licensed teachers with advanced degrees administer a nationally accredited curriculum. Our unique and thorough therapeutic evaluation process guides education planning for each student. Student-to-teacher ratios accommodate learning difficulties presented by complex mood and behavior disorders. An integrative classroom day incorporates biblical teaching, group counseling, and academic work. We offer three educational tracts within our boarding school academic program. The individual attention we provide can support students who are advanced academically alongside those who may struggle.

Every student is included as a valued member of the peer group at Evangelhouse Christian Academy. We offer a unique social structure that cultivates 360-degree feedback from peers, parents, and professional staff. Such feedback hones students’ awareness of their behavior and its effects on themselves and others. The connection between their actions and resulting consequences are emphasized in order to develop enhanced social skills. At Evangelhouse Christian Academy, consistent social structures, biblical guidance, and 360-degree feedback produce emotional growth and social maturity.

Masters-degreed staff provides students with a vigorous regimen of physical exercise, healthy lifestyle education, recreation, and adventure. Everything from our equestrian program to team sports teaches students assertiveness, empowerment, mood management, and character development. Unique experiential education activities provide practical learning opportunities for students.
