California Therapeutic Boarding School for Girls

We are a Therapeutic Boarding School for girls from California and all over the US. Most of our enrolled students come from other states including California in order to create distance and focus on their issues. Based in Louisiana, we serve girls in grades 6-12 from across the US. We’ve enrolled girls from 5 countries!

One-On-One Therapy

Every week, each girl at Evangelhouse has a 1-hour individual appointment with their primary therapist. The focus of individual therapy can differ, but generally, it is to problem-solve, process challenges, and receive support and assistance. The therapist guides each student, ensuring that their needs, strengths, and abilities are met.

Group Therapy

The Evangelhouse Academy therapy program includes group therapy. Girls benefit tremendously from peer contact, which we believe is facilitated by group therapy. Girls at Evangelhouse learn they are not alone in this process and that positive peer connections can promote a culture of healing and well-being. At Evangelhouse Academy, girls attend group therapy and individual therapy every week.

Girls From California in Crisis

At Evangelhouse therapeutic boarding school for girls from California, we are an ideal environment to help teen girls learn how to overcome the trauma of being bullied. Cyberbullying has become a common topic in therapeutic research today. Being bullied online has surpassed bullying as the most common kind of harassment experienced by teen girls in the United States.

Teens can use Snapchat, Instagram, Tik Tok, and Twitter to communicate with one another and other positive identity development uses. That being said, being online can cause a lot of different problems for a variety of reasons. Social media has many positive uses, but its negatives can include low self-esteem due to constant comparison with others, feelings of being “ugly” or not having enough friends, and it also exposes young girls to being bullied online.

While peer pressure isn’t a new problem, being online and using social media apps has elevated it to new heights. Sexting, for example, is a big source of concern for many families. We provide a positive Christian environment where we seek to instill the core values girls today need.

At Evangelhouse, our girls develop character and build their relationship skills. As a result, they are able to act in a mature and responsible manner online when they transition back home. Instead of socializing online with no supervision, girls at Evangelhouse socialize in the therapeutic setting with counselors and other trained staff observing or participating in the conversation.

    Therapeutic Milieu

The strength of the Evangelhouse program is based on our ability to establish a supportive community environment for your daughter. Essentially, we have developed communities within communities that have layers of support deriving from residential, clinical, and academic staff. Each staff member is responsible for leading comparable-aged girls on similar topics that are formed based on the unique emotional needs your daughter presents. These communities aim to be more like a family, with more warmth and acceptance.

The therapeutic boarding school program at Evangelhouse emphasizes and promotes community service. There are many benefits that our students receive by participating in this aspect of the program. One benefit is learning by doing to develop strong working relationships. While students are giving back to their communities, they are learning how to become responsible and respectful. They grow to understand that teamwork is established on the basis of trust in that each individual promises to deliver on their responsibilities to the program. The Evangelhouse community service program fosters a friendly social environment that engages our teenage girls to work with staff and colleagues.  This aspect of the program in turn nurtures their confidence and trust in each other outside of the academic setting.

Your daughter will benefit by living in a structured community like Evangelhouse. Part of the experience of this community is becoming a member of positive peer culture. Receiving helpful feedback from her peers will be helpful to your daughter as she learns to work with her peer group to overcome challenges.  When your daughter experiences positive connections with her peers, it will foster her positive self-esteem and image. The therapist’s role during individual sessions includes facilitation and observation while in the milieu. The therapist also provides feedback and direction. To sum it up, the peer-group connection at Evangelhouse is a vital experience because it will foster your daughter’s positive growth.

During milieu therapy, every member of the peer group has a responsibility for their own welfare as well as for the welfare of the group. Milieu therapy provides a safe setting where your daughter is encouraged to share emotional issues. Prior to the therapy session, the group will establish norms and expectations and then come to an agreement on how to enforce them. Therapists commonly initiate a talking point on the basis of how a decision or behavior affected the larger group. One goal of milieu therapy is for the community member to develop relationship skills. Another goal is to develop adaptive coping methods. The overall process fosters positive growth and connectivity to the community of peers.

    LifeLeaf Clinical Model

The LifeLeaf system at Evangelhouse Christian Academy gives everyday living experiences of relationships with staff, peers, and parents. Dysfunctional coping skills and misperceptions of the student are often reenacted at Evangelhouse Christian Academy, and the girls have the opportunity to work through them with the help of skilled, competent, and caring treatment staff.

Parents often prefer to find a program that can create some distance from their daughter’s current stressors. This is so she will focus on the issues at hand, and not focus on her boyfriend, friends, pets, or family while getting treatment. Also, the temptation to call a friend to “rescue” her is diminished with some distance. While we are located in Louisana, we have enrolled girls from all 50-states.

Spiritual growth is a unique aspect of the Evangelhouse program. Students are urged to take notes during church sermons, establish personal bible study habits, and set aside time for prayer.

Every school day begins with a student-led group prayer and devotional reflection for the day. Before participating in a peer-led prayer group each night before bed, the group is given time for personal contemplation. Weekly group meetings are arranged to share challenges and offer support to the peer group. Each individual is also supervised and guided by staff members as they build healthy spiritual disciplines.

Many young girls have found their place in the world and lived a life of faith thanks to the Evangelhouse experiential education and family counseling method. Our Christian life-coaching program provides adolescent girls the self-assurance they need to face challenges and succeed. We urge kids to apply biblical principles to real-life circumstances and to rely on these principles to assist them through their adolescent years and beyond.

Evangelhouse all-girls, private boarding school is a twelve-month, year-round school which means your daughter may be admitted at any point in the year. If you have any questions about the program please call us at 1-800-924-4012 or visit our contact page.
