Christian Therapeutic Boarding School for Girls from Dallas, TX

We are a Christian Therapeutic Boarding School for girls from Dallas and all over the southeast. Just a short drive away, we serve girls from Dallas and across the US. The Evangelhouse therapeutic boarding school was established in 1995 to serve Christian families with a quality residential treatment option for troubled teen girls.  In its quest to do so, Evangelhouse pioneered a treatment model that blends licensed behavioral healthcare with the structure of a traditional Christian boarding school.  Since then, it has evolved to become the premier non-denominational Christian option in the marketplace of high-quality teen residential treatment centers.

Christian Academy for Girls from Dallas

Since 1995 Evangelhouse Christian Academy has graduated over 200 students attending from over 30 states and 5 foreign countries. Our Christian Academy employs licensed teachers with advanced degrees who administer a nationally accredited curriculum. Our unique and thorough therapeutic evaluation process guides education planning for each student.

Low student-to-teacher ratios accommodate learning difficulties presented by complex mood and behavior disorders. An integrative classroom day incorporates biblical teaching, group counseling, and academic work. We offer three educational tracts within our boarding school academic program. The individual attention we provide can support students who are advanced academically alongside those who may struggle.

Therapeutic Academy for Girls with Depression

Depression is generally a more common, and potentially more impactful illness than most girls realize. Research tells us that an estimated 3.2 million teenagers in the United States experienced at least one major depressive episode. It’s no surprise that quality treatment options like Evangelhouse Christian Academy are in demand. Current statistics tell us that approximately 13% of teenagers will experience sadness before they reach adulthood.

At Evangelhouse Christian Academy, our students are included in a close-knit peer group. We limit our total census to just 16 girls at a time. Also, with the absence of smartphones, our girls learn how to express themselves and their frustrations face-to-face, not through a screen. Overuse of electronic devices may be preventing young people from hobbies, religion, sports, friendships, and socializing, which might help them avoid depression in the first place.

Our mission is to enable our girls to learn the skills to overcome issues like depression, anger, relationship problems, ADHD, and more. Part of the program focuses on the transition home as students learn to manage their symptoms in the next environment.

Depression rates among adolescents, particularly among females, have risen over the past decade, with around 8% of teens reporting being depressed. If your daughter has depression, now is the time to get help. As behaviors become more ingrained the more they are practiced, it’s important to break the cycle with your child as soon as possible. Therapeutic Academy for Troubled Girls from Dallas

We receive a diverse range of teenage girls that include students with learning difficulties, attention deficits, or trauma-related emotional illnesses. Evangelhouse Christian Academy is willing to open its door to help any teenage girl suffering emotionally and academically. Our students may have been turned away from other school settings, but if your daughter can benefit from our program then we will work with you. It is our goal to offer a traditional, academic program that is demanding while addressing our residents emotionally.

Ultimately, at Evangelhouse we aim to help our residents live productively, successfully, and confidently by applying the coping skills they have gained here.

Notably, we meet our students where they are. Our academic approach is to create an individualized academic plan that defines the academic targets, and assists with their learning and therapeutic process.

Evangelhouse is a fully approved academic institution that can help students enhance their self-esteem, and self-efficacy, and become lifelong learners. While it is a fact that all pupils can learn; we recognize that some students need emotional and individualized support from their learning community to achieve their goals.

One great advantage of attending Evangelhouse is our smaller class size which allows for greater personalized attention. This also allows for more hands-on, experiential learning to occur. We believe our students gain a richer, more meaningful learning experience when they are able to use appropriate learning tools in the field.  Another benefit to our program is that our academic curriculum runs year-round. This calendar lends itself well to filling in the gaps your child may have missed in their previous academic experience. When your daughter completes her academic program at Evangelhouse Christian Academy she will attend a graduation ceremony and receive an accredited diploma. A benefit of receiving an accredited diploma is that our students may transfer credits if applicable.

Christian Academy or a Residential Treatment Center?

Choosing Evangelhouse Chrisitan Academy over local residential treatment centers may be the best for your daughter. It all depends on the circumstances behind your concern and your daughter’s specific needs. Our program is a Christian-based, highly sophisticated clinical treatment at the forefront of teen behavioral healthcare. Evangelhouse Chrisitan Academy is designed to meet the requirements of teen girls in grades 6-12.

While a residential treatment center generally offers a higher level of psychiatric care, this higher level comes with trade-offs. Students at residential treatment centers will be more severe in their illness. This means more exposure to potential hazards like violence, anger, or talk of drugs and alcohol. Residential treatment centers tend to be more hospital-like, and therapeutic boarding schools like Evangelhouse tend to be more home-like.

We feel that the home-like setting is more appropriate for the level of girls we accept. After all, we are preparing our girls for the transition home. Therefore, an environment like the Evangelhouse campus is a better place to practice new coping skills and ways of interacting and socializing versus a stale hospital-like setting. Because our girls live together on campus, they can help each other in academic and extracurricular activities.

However, that’s not to say Evangelhouse Christian Academy is lacking in our clinical department. Our focus is just more on repairing relationships with family and learning new coping skills versus medication management.  Our clinical program includes family therapy techniques as we firmly believe in the strength and vitality of family bonds, along with finding support spiritually in our non-denominational setting.

Parental involvement in residential treatment is the most important aspect in establishing favorable long-term outcomes for your daughter, according to research. Parental participation is actively participating in their child’s treatment as well as their own treatment and progress.

Our program focuses on repairing broken relationships and helping family members to reunite and grow their fractured relationships. We have four family workshops hosted on campus each year.  Our workshops are known for being effective, empowering, and eye-opening.
