Louisiana DBT Treatment Center for Girls

How Will DBT Help My Daughter from Louisiana?

Evangelhouse helps girls from Louisiana with DBT and other effective treatment stratagies. As a parent, navigating the world of mental health treatments for your daughter can be both challenging and overwhelming. Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is an evidence-based therapeutic approach that has proven effective in addressing a variety of mental health issues.

Understanding Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT):

DBT was developed by Dr. Marsha M. Linehan and is rooted in cognitive-behavioral therapy principles. It was initially designed to treat individuals with borderline personality disorder but has since been adapted to help people with various emotional and behavioral challenges. DBT places a strong emphasis on acceptance and change, aiming to balance seemingly opposing concepts to facilitate personal growth.

How DBT Can Help Your Daughter:

Enhanced Emotional Regulation:

DBT provides your daughter with practical tools to manage and regulate her emotions effectively. This skill is invaluable during the often turbulent teenage years when emotional ups and downs are a common experience.

Improved Interpersonal Skills:

Adolescence is a time of social growth, and DBT helps your daughter navigate friendships, family relationships, and other interpersonal dynamics. Strengthening these skills can lead to healthier, more fulfilling connections.

Coping with Distress:

Life is full of challenges, and DBT equips your daughter with the ability to cope with distressing situations without resorting to harmful behaviors. These coping mechanisms are essential for her overall well-being.

Increased Self-Awareness:

Through mindfulness practices, DBT fosters increased self-awareness in your daughter. This heightened awareness can lead to improved decision-making, increased resilience, and a better understanding of herself.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy offers a structured and comprehensive approach to mental health, addressing the unique needs of adolescents like your daughter. By focusing on emotion regulation, distress tolerance, interpersonal effectiveness, and mindfulness, DBT empowers adolescents to navigate the complexities of adolescence with resilience and skill. Consider reaching out to mental health professionals to explore how DBT can be tailored to meet your daughter’s specific needs and contribute to her overall mental and emotional health.

If the items below would help your child, contact us today for an assessment to see if Evangelhouse is a good fit for your daughter.

    Spiritual Solutions

Students who attend Evangelhouse have grown up in a Christian home. Our goal is to see them experience a renewed relationship with God and bring that passion back to their own family’s denominational heritage. Our non-denominational Christian values permeate all segments of the school.

    Licensed Therapists

We are designed for students who struggle with social problems, emotional distress, trauma, depression, family conflict, anxiety, the misuse of social media or self-destructive habits. If your daughter has issues beyond our scope of treatment, Evangelhouse may not be the ideal fit.

    Focus on Physical Health

Whether it is through our English riding program or our fine arts activities, students learn new ways of viewing their physical capabilities. The structure of the exercise schedule, nutritious meals and good sleep hygiene build on these activities to bring a new level of physical health to each student.

    Academic Solutions

Licensed teachers administer a nationally accredited curriculum to accommodate a variety of student needs including students with learning challenges, emotional problems, or mood disorders.  Career testing is encouraged for each student so that they return home academically empowered with purpose.

    Focused Population

We are not a catch-all program. We are girls only, and we don’t accept students that have issues that might be disruptive to the therapeutic community. We are purposefully small with only 16 girls in residence at a time.

    We Build Social Skills

Our small setting cultivates 360-degree feedback from peers, parents, and professional staff.  Such feedback hones students’ self-awareness and provides enlightenment on how their behavior choices affect themselves and others.

    Christian Values

Evangelhouse Christian Academy is a Christian boarding school based upon biblical principles. An authentic relationship with Jesus Christ is nurtured and developed within the school’s setting and through local church involvement.

    Preparing for Home

From the first day at Evangelhouse, we are preparing our girls for a successful transition back home. Our focus is returning your daughter back to her home environment happier, healthier, and better prepared for life.

A Therapeutic Boarding School Offering DBT Just For Girls

Evangelhouse DBT treatment center for Louisiana girls is a boarding school with therapeutic support like DBT just for girls grades 6-12. While we are based on traditional values, we keep up with modern issues girls face including tech-related issues. Today’s teen girl has so many more potential dangers than any proceeding generation. Just consider that eating issues, self-esteem issues, and identity issues usually begin soon before or during puberty.  Eating disorders like binge eating, bulimia, or anorexia can have a negative impact on a teen girl’s family relationships, her physical health, her outlook, and her attitude

Women are more likely than men to suffer from eating disorders. Add to this problem the invention of Instagram, TikTok, and other social media platforms and you have a recipe for disaster in today’s teenage girl.

At Evanglehouse DBT treatment center for Louisiana girls, we see many teen girls trying to find their place in society and want to be recognized and appreciated for who they are. Many of the young ladies we work with at Evangelhouse are dealing with anxiety and insecurity, and the root cause can be often traced back to a social media app. Often, it’s the student’s peers at their school who are causing the trouble. We address comparing ourselves to others in group therapy, and why the image you see on Instagram might not be an accurate portrayal of that person’s life.

We understand that many girls may experience emotions of loneliness and even depression as a result of not fitting in, whether that is real or imagined. Add to that, consider all of the negativity today’s teen girl finds online. Violent video games, sexualized content, bullying, hate speech, and more are readily available online. Add to this the constant comparison and competition for “likes” and followers their peers in the high school compete for. It’s no wonder so many girls report feeling depressed.

Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and other social media platforms can be fantastic methods for kids to engage with the world when used appropriately. On the other side, they can be quite dangerous and harmful to self-esteem when misused.  Our staff oversees and influences the culture of positive peer influence at Evangelhouse. In this way, we seek to guide our students toward a more mature and responsible way of interacting and facing the dangers in today’s world.

    Campus Based on Christian Values

Girls grades 6-12 come from all over the world come to the Evangelhouse DBT treatment center for Louisiana girls to grow spiritually, academically, physically, and emotionally. Every aspect of the campus was chosen to promote recovery.

We have many on-campus activities from sports to horseback riding. Evangelhouse Christian boarding school for girls strikes the ideal balance between seclusion and accessibility. Our girls and their families have access to a variety of rehabilitative and recreational activities on a private and secure campus. The girls will have the opportunity to gain stability before participating in off-campus activities.

With supervision, students experience the social atmosphere, group therapeutic process, and spiritual tone of campus life. We nurture a positive peer culture that emphasizes social responsibility, accountability, and leadership. The staff leads weekly interactive small-group meetings to teach students character development within their current social interactions. Here students learn relevant ways to apply biblical teachings to their actions. As students progress, they learn to look beyond themselves to provide encouragement and support for others.

Students participate in a variety of positive peer culture development activities including:

    • Biblical character development
    • Discipleship small group meetings
    • Leadership training
    • Student Council
    • Weekly zone group staff feedback

This school literally has given my daughter her life back and has given us the tools to help her and herself into the future. This is a full circle, all encompassing program. From admission to graduation. Do not delete this school from your list! I almost did because it was far away...and...to be honest, I wasn't sure how I felt about a "Christian" school. Whether you are religious or not, don't be put off or think your child is going to be brainwashed. She's not! It is a part of the day and I thought my daughter would hate it (and so did she). But it turns out she found great comfort there and her faith! I thoroughly investigated this school. In addition to my own research, I also hired a company that researches and screens these types of programs. I also had my daughter's psychiatrist interview the director! I've done all the researching and investigating for you. Whatever your daughter's issues may be, I probably have them covered! My daughter's diagnosis' range from ADHD, Anxiety, High Risk Behavior, Adoption issues/trauma and psychosis. Do not waste your time. Don't wait for Spring or end of school or whatever timeline. Act now! The happiest day of my life was delivering her to the ECA. I actually slept for the first time in years. Knowing my daughter was finally getting the help she so deserved. Therapy, school, socialization, faith, responsibility, accountability, self-worth and confidence. We all ask or pray for help. Consider ECA as prayers answered.

We had a troubled teen. I found ECA online. I made a call and set up a visit. We were looking for a place that included God and biblical principles in their program. Now that our child has finished the program, WOW! Thank you ECA leadership. Every one on staff believes in the program. It shows! and it works!!

This school has been an absolute Godsend for my daughter and our family. We realized a few months ago that she needed residential treatment. After an exhaustive search, we found the wonderful people at Evangelhouse. They do an amazing job keeping parents updated and are always available when we call. I have been impressed with the way that they are firm with the girls but also loving and caring. The process there is amazing, especially since it involves the family also. We were so happy to find a place that provides professional counseling with a Christian focus.

Two years ago we were struggling to get our daughter on the right track. We had tried everything and knew that she would need to be placed in a residential treatment facility. We had searched for at least a year to find the right place. Were looking for a Christian, all girls, small, therapeutic program not too far from Texas. Somehow, someway, God lead us to the Evangelhouse website. We are so glad that we took his direction because it has meant a world of difference for our daughter, our family, our marriage, and our peace of mind! Evangelhouse has taken a once broken, low-self esteem, miserable, self-centered, hostile, angry, self-doubting teenager in crisis and changed her into a Christ-centered, selfless, self-loving, servant-hearted, mature, sensible, responsible, thoughtful young adult. ECA implements a program that strips each student down to the bare necessities in order for them to focus on what is truly important in life. I don't know where we would be without ECA. I now know what it is like to have a functional, happy, and peaceful family life.
