Maine Residential Treatment Center for Girls

Which Residential Treatment Center (RTC) Is The Best Fit For Your Daughter?

It might be difficult to choose the right course of therapy for your daughter in Maine because there are so many different programs, residential treatment centers (RTCs), and care levels available nationwide. Although there are many varied reasons why people seek a residential treatment center for girls in Maine, there are several challenges that virtually always necessitate this degree of care, such as:

  • Serious Mental Health Conditions
  • Trauma and Loss
  • Anxiety
  • Behavioral Concerns

Other criteria, in addition to specific diseases or diagnoses, may make residential therapy a good fit, such as:

  • Attempted lesser levels of therapy (outpatient, IOP, etc.) with little to no symptom alleviation.
  • Lack of sufficient community or domestic support
  • Safety concerns: impulses to damage oneself or a significant behavioral history
  • Diagnostic ambiguity: a residential treatment center for girls may be recommended if healthcare professionals find it difficult to identify your daughter’s diagnosis. Mental health specialists and medical experts can get a more comprehensive understanding of the patient’s symptoms, habits, feelings, etc. in a residential treatment facility.

Residential treatment centers for Maine girls, sometimes known as rehabs, offer therapy for a variety of conditions, such as mental illnesses, behavioral difficulties, and problems with substance misuse and addiction. Residential treatment facilities are live-in, clinically focused settings where patients are constantly observed and guided by qualified professionals.

This is because many of the issues teen girls have been hard to pinpoint the root cause. If you don’t know what to look for, trauma and PTSD aren’t usually easy to identify. Your teen daughter may require assistance getting over a traumatic event or experience if they display any or all of the signs listed below:

  • Trauma and PTSD can result in horrific flashbacks and dreams that leave your teen terrified and clearly unsettled.
  • Teens who are dealing with PTSD frequently experience dramatic mood swings and display aggressive behavior.

  • Despair: Whatever trauma your daughter encounters may be to blame if they have recurrent episodes of grief or depression.

Therapy in the context of mental health refers to a conversational interaction between a healthcare professional and the patient or patients. Psychotherapy or talk therapy are additional names for it.

The advantages of treatment might be psychological, emotional, physical, behavioral, or life and relationship-related. Less discomfort, better sleep, better communication, less stress, and greater enjoyment are some typical advantages of treatment.

Help With Stress At An RTC

Teenagers living in Maine in the modern era face difficulties that their grandparents could have never imagined. Electronic media had compounded many of the “typical teen” conflicts that parents and teens normally encounter. Other issues, like issues with authority and control, are as old as time.

At Evangelhouse RTC for Maine girls, we approach treatment knowing that teens’ interactions with their classmates and romantic interests have changed. Many of the issues we see from anxiety to acting out are rooted in screens or as a result of the widespread use of digital communication.

During treatment, we seek to address a student’s potential lack of crucial interpersonal communication skills such as the ability to recognize social cues. Social skill is a common topic in our therapeutic environment. A lot of the anxiety and stress our students face over socialization can be traced back to excessive use of technology.

At Evangelhouse RTC for girls from Maine, girls learn how to interact without the use of screens. We teach our girls how to manage their social media and texting habits. In insight-oriented therapy, they learn how they consume media, and how media can influence how they communicate, date, learn, sleep, and more.

Stress is a typical reaction to the pressures, demands, and difficulties of life. It serves as a mental and physical cue to help you get ready for what is ahead.

What Causes Stress?

When your brain senses a danger to your safety, your body immediately releases a wave of stress chemicals. You consequently become more attentive. You widen your eyes. Your breathing and heartbeat quicken. For increased power and speed, your heart pumps more oxygen to the muscles.

The stress reaction in your body serves to keep you safe. If necessary, it enables you to respond immediately, fight fiercely, or flee rapidly. Stress is also referred to as the fight-or-flight reaction for this reason.

The majority of the time, stress-inducing factors are not harmful. Commonplace events like taking an exam, being called upon in class, uncomfortable circumstances, or having too much to accomplish frequently lead to stress. This leads to emotional tension. However, your body produces stress hormones in response to emotional stress just like it does in response to a threat to your safety.

In-The-Moment Focus to Avoid Stress

Our girls from Maine focus on the present because they don’t have constant access to the internet. With an absence of digital distractions, girls at Evangelhouse Residential Treatment Center face the issues that led them to our therapeutic community.

To help combat these stressors, our therapists use:

— Group therapy sessions to develop insight into what is causing stress and to teach techniques to reduce stress. Group therapy sessions are led by a qualified treatment professional.

— CBT- Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. CBT sessions are led by a licensed therapist.

— DBT- Dialectical Behavior Therapy. DBT sessions are led by a licensed therapist.

— Homework assignments to support therapy outside of sessions

— Family therapy to prepare the student for a successful transition back to the home environment.

The Evangelhouse RTC for Girls Community

The unique setting at Evangelhouse RTC for Maine girls provides a safe community that we believe allows our students to grow and study. In our community, we eliminate many of the outside world’s stressors that can hinder our residents from performing well academically and feeling well emotionally. Many of the stressors in our outside world may create overwhelming situations for our teens that are difficult to cope with. In the interest of fostering beneficial change in our teenage girls, we help them to develop coping strategies.

Between grades 6-12, a lot happens, so it’s crucial to maintain your relationship with your daughter. They will turn to you for direction, leadership, clarifications, and responses to queries that may be awkward for you to address. Your teen’s journey to maturity will be determined by how you respond to these circumstances.

Unfortunately, it’s possible that your Maine girl didn’t manage these crucial years as well as they might have. In the modern world, when children have access to the internet from an early age, there is a lot of pressure to blend in, act like others, or appear a certain way. Your youngster may go down dark roads as a result of these kinds of contemporary social pressures. At Evangelhouse RTC, we provide a healthy peer culture to ensure your daughter has a positive social group that influences her. We call this a part of “milieu therapy.”

Milieu Therapy at Evangelhouse

The main goal of Milieu treatment programming is to eliminate the stressors that can trigger negative emotions from our teenage residents. In turn, when we achieve de-risking of our residents, we produce a therapeutic setting.  Under the protection of a controlled therapeutic setting, our residents are able to develop new coping mechanisms. These new coping mechanisms become their personal set of tools to better cope with and understand the world. As our residents become more familiar with the routine at Evangelhouse, their ability to feel safe increases. Likewise, in a mutually safe environment, the peer group is able to build trust and make great progress in promoting emotional growth within each individual.

There are many advantages to participating in Milieu therapy in a residential treatment center for girls. One advantage is that our teenagers learn to accept responsibility for their own actions. Another advantage is that they learn how to open up and disclose their difficulties. Our peer group receives regular feedback during therapy and this allows our residents to observe how their actions affect the community. This therapy setting offers them time to process and reflect on the consequences of the actions or decisions they have made in the past and how they can improve moving forward.

At Evangelhouse, our residents will participate in milieu therapy and gain coping skills that will help them in the real world.

This school literally has given my daughter her life back and has given us the tools to help her and herself into the future. This is a full circle, all encompassing program. From admission to graduation. Do not delete this school from your list! I almost did because it was far away...and...to be honest, I wasn't sure how I felt about a "Christian" school. Whether you are religious or not, don't be put off or think your child is going to be brainwashed. She's not! It is a part of the day and I thought my daughter would hate it (and so did she). But it turns out she found great comfort there and her faith! I thoroughly investigated this school. In addition to my own research, I also hired a company that researches and screens these types of programs. I also had my daughter's psychiatrist interview the director! I've done all the researching and investigating for you. Whatever your daughter's issues may be, I probably have them covered! My daughter's diagnosis' range from ADHD, Anxiety, High Risk Behavior, Adoption issues/trauma and psychosis. Do not waste your time. Don't wait for Spring or end of school or whatever timeline. Act now! The happiest day of my life was delivering her to the ECA. I actually slept for the first time in years. Knowing my daughter was finally getting the help she so deserved. Therapy, school, socialization, faith, responsibility, accountability, self-worth and confidence. We all ask or pray for help. Consider ECA as prayers answered.

We had a troubled teen. I found ECA online. I made a call and set up a visit. We were looking for a place that included God and biblical principles in their program. Now that our child has finished the program, WOW! Thank you ECA leadership. Every one on staff believes in the program. It shows! and it works!!

This school has been an absolute Godsend for my daughter and our family. We realized a few months ago that she needed residential treatment. After an exhaustive search, we found the wonderful people at Evangelhouse. They do an amazing job keeping parents updated and are always available when we call. I have been impressed with the way that they are firm with the girls but also loving and caring. The process there is amazing, especially since it involves the family also. We were so happy to find a place that provides professional counseling with a Christian focus.

Two years ago we were struggling to get our daughter on the right track. We had tried everything and knew that she would need to be placed in a residential treatment facility. We had searched for at least a year to find the right place. Were looking for a Christian, all girls, small, therapeutic program not too far from Texas. Somehow, someway, God lead us to the Evangelhouse website. We are so glad that we took his direction because it has meant a world of difference for our daughter, our family, our marriage, and our peace of mind! Evangelhouse has taken a once broken, low-self esteem, miserable, self-centered, hostile, angry, self-doubting teenager in crisis and changed her into a Christ-centered, selfless, self-loving, servant-hearted, mature, sensible, responsible, thoughtful young adult. ECA implements a program that strips each student down to the bare necessities in order for them to focus on what is truly important in life. I don't know where we would be without ECA. I now know what it is like to have a functional, happy, and peaceful family life.
