Therapeutic Boarding School for Girls with Trauma

We are a girls-only therapeutic boarding school for trauma and related issues. Trauma-related diagnoses including post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) can be life-changing.

PTSD is a debilitating syndrome that develops when a scary, shocking, or life-threatening incident is viewed or experienced. Girls with PTSD often have experienced a trauma where someone has been injured, or a near-death (or perceived near-death) experience was encountered.

This traumatic occurrence causes persistent, fearful thoughts, memories, and flashbacks in the child, teen, or adult. When this issue affects adolescents or teens, it frequently develops into a chronic condition. The likelihood that an adolescent girl would acquire PTSD is determined by their closeness to the incident, the degree of the trauma, the teen’s resilience, their coping abilities, and the support services accessible to them.

When a Therapeutic Boarding School for Trauma is Needed

PTSD in a teenager can be caused by a variety of circumstances, including:

Car crashes
Abuse from a parent or loved one
Abuse of a sexual nature
Abuse of emotions
Neglect
Natural calamities
Personal assaults that are violent (kidnapping, torture, being held captive, mugging)

Residential Trauma Treatment for Girls

Being directly affected by, witnessing, or otherwise being exposed to a traumatic incident can be extremely distressing. Trauma can instill and cause girls to avoid people, places, or things that remind them of the traumatic experience, which can make it difficult to function.

Women and girls who require professional trauma therapy but do not receive it may find it difficult to maintain healthy relationships, achieve acceptable academic or occupational advancement, or otherwise fully engage in a productive and satisfying independent existence.

The specific advantages of trauma treatment will differ based on the circumstances of each woman or girl. In general, when a woman or girl receives specialized therapy at an excellent trauma treatment facility, they are able to recognize and address the specific ways in which trauma has impacted their lives.

PTSD and trauma-related issues are maintained by problematic beliefs such as “I’m incapable of coping with this.” By getting treatment at Evangelhouse Christian Academy, teen girls may process their experiences, acquire stronger coping skills, and learn to manage the impact trauma has had on their lives when they work together in close collaboration with a team of trauma treatment specialists.

Therapy Issues In Girls

Today’s teen girl has so many more potential dangers than any proceeding generation. Just consider that eating issues, self-esteem issues, and identity issues usually begin soon before or during puberty.  Eating disorders like binge eating, bulimia, or anorexia can have a negative impact on a teen girl’s family relationships, her physical health, her outlook, attitude, and her relationship with God.

Women are more likely than men to suffer from eating disorders. Add to this problem the invention of Instagram, Tik Tok, and other social media platforms and you have a recipe for disaster in today’s teenage girl.

At Evanglehouse Christian Academy, we see a lot of teen girls who are trying to find their place in society and want to be recognized and appreciated for who they are. Many of the young ladies we work with at Evangelhouse are dealing with anxiety and insecurity, and the root cause can be often traced back to a social media app. Often, it’s the student’s peers at their school who are causing the trouble. We address comparing ourselves to others in group therapy, and why the image you see on Instagram might not be an accurate portrayal of that person’s life.

We understand that many girls may experience emotions of loneliness and even as far as depression as a result of not fitting in, whether that is real or imagined. Add to that, consider all of the negativity today’s teen girl finds online. Violent video games, sexualized content, bullying, hate speech, and more are readily available online. Add to this the constant comparison and competition for “likes” and followers their peers in the high school compete for. It’s no wonder so many girls report feeling depressed.

Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and other social media platforms can be fantastic methods for kids to engage with the world when used appropriately. On the other side, they can be quite dangerous and harmful to self-esteem and more when misused.  Our staff oversees and influences the culture of positive-peer influence at Evangelhouse. In this way, we seek to guide our students towards a more mature and responsible way of interacting and facing the dangers in today’s world.
